![Social Design]()
Social by Design
Clustering private homes around shared amenities (determined by residents) such as: open green space, children’s play area, organic community garden, greenhouse, barn, storage sheds, fire pit, etc. enhances interaction, security, and community spirit.
-
![Participation]()
Participation
From design to operation, residents collaborate in decision-making (via Sociocracy) – cultivating a shared sense of collective ownership and responsibility. Like other intentional communities, Forest Glen holds an expectation of ongoing participation from its members and future residents. This is what makes us different from other neighborhoods and helps build connection and resilience.
-
![Shared Resources]()
Shared Resources
By sharing maintenance, upkeep, storage space, tools, equipment, gardens, greenhouse, childcare, and some meals, our community’s ecological footprint is reduced, affordability increases, and the mutual support for each other builds trust and resilience in our neighborhood.
-
![Balanced Privacy]()
Balanced Privacy
Homes are privately owned, situated around a pedestrian-only greenspace, with front porches facing the commons. Each house has a private back yard and off-street parking on the periphery. House design will follow agreed-upon community guidelines, but interior amenities are selected by each homeowner.
-
![Regenerative Living]()
Regenerative Living
Passive solar houses, permaculture-designed landscaping, organic gardening, and making conscious choices about our actions to preserve the Earth for future generations. Feel a sense of belonging with neighbors who share your values of healthy, sustainable, nature-loving living!
